Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular stands as a cornerstone of the Halloween season at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, captivating audiences with its enchanting blend of dazzling pyrotechnics, beloved Disney characters, and immersive storytelling. This nighttime spectacular balances thrilling Halloween themes with the lighthearted spirit synonymous with Disney. The show masterfully integrates state-of-the-art projection mapping technology onto the castle.

My first illustration on the show was this trick or treat section of the show. Everything was painted in large wide layers so they could be seamlessly animated.

I also had the enormous task of creating 5 variations of the “fun house” villian castle. Each castle had it’s own color scheme and custom props, along with custom “sidekick” circus posters for the side towers. Tower roofs, rings and mirrors were painted with uv mapped textures. This meant that the 3d elements could be rendered spinning around for more dynamic movement. Several elements had uv mapped textures. Roof elements , and elements that were uv mapped so they could be animated in 3d.
